Why we need more women in leadership roles

September 12, 2017

It’s no secret that women have historically faced greater barriers than their male counterparts when it comes to fully participating in the economy. Across geographies and income levels, disparities between men and women persist in the form of pay gaps, uneven opportunities for advancement, and unbalanced representation in important decision-making.t

Serving as the first ever female Youth Mayor for Lambeth taught me that we have a shortage of women in leadership roles. Women are highly underrepresented in important decision-making locally, regionally and nationally. A prime example of this can be seen in our legislature. We have 195 female MPs out of 650 MPs in the UK House of Commons.

What is Gender Equality? Do we face Gender Inequality? What causes workplace inequality? Are men better than women? Are there underlying factors that pull women back in their social mobility? Do we need more women in leadership positions? Do we want more women in leadership? Do we need a generational shift?

Driven by these questions and a passion for Gender Equality and causality. This short documentary will take you through a beautiful series of personal anecdotes and opinions that will help you form a greater understanding on these important issues.
